Use of double channel purification method for purifying water in solar still

Water purification system helps people to get pure water which will greatly improve their health condition and increases the longevity of their life. Solar still is used to purify the saline water and produce clean water. In rural areas electricity is a great problem and also power cuts are frequent. Traditional method of boiling water for drinking purpose will not solve the problem always. A society can grow better if people are healthy and for better health pure water is required.In this design we are using double channel filtering column to remove larger impurities, smaller impurities and chemical compounds present in the contaminated water as well as solar still to get the desalinated water.Thus this design is solar based double channel water purification system for rural people. Here green energy is used for water purification purpose. Solar energy is directly used in the form of solar thermal and does not cause any environmental pollution. Even no extra electricity is consumed from the grid, neither batteries are required which greatly reduces cost.In this work we have designed the system and test with the sample water from chilika lake which is brackish water. The drinking water made available is free from salts, impurities and different micro-organisms. In this new design twenty litre of water can be purified within a period of 5 hours. Thus this system can be easily installed with a life span of 25 years.
