A novel mono- and di-nuclear Schiff base copper(II) complex, [Cu(HL)2]2 +[Cu2L2(μ-Cl)2]· 2Cl−(L = 2,4-dibromo-6-[(2-isopropylaminoethylimino)methyl]phenolate), was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex consists of a mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) cationic moiety, a chloride-bridged dinuclear Schiff base copper(II) molecule, and two chloride anions. The Cu atom in the mononuclear cationic moiety is in a square-planar coordination, while the Cu atoms in the dinuclear molecule are in square pyramidal coordinations.
