Objective:To investigate lung function and clinical characteristics of the cough variant asthma(cough variant asthma,CVA).Methods:32 patients with CVA,included 25 males and 7 females, aged 20-45 years;another 30 cases of healthy young people selected as a control group were 22 males and 8 females, aged 22-43 years;and 28 patients with typical asthma,23 males and 5 females, age 23-43 years old;before and after bronchial provocation had test of pulmonary function(FVC,FEV1,PEF,FEF25%~75%) respectively, and differences among the groups were compared. Results:CVA compared with control groups in the markers of lung function before bronchial provocation, the difference was not statistically significant(P0.05);the two groups compared with typical asthma, the difference was significant(P0.05);the control group before and after the provocation test, the difference was not statistically significant(P0.05);CVA group before and after the provocative test,FEV1,FVC had little changes(P0.05),and PEF,FEF25%~75% changes significantly(P0.05).Conclusion:Patients with cough variant asthma have pulmonary function in the normal range before provocation test, but the large airway and small airway are dysfunction after provocation test, their pulmonary function are between the normal people and typical asthma.
