摘要
Clusterization-triggered emission (CTE) is rising as a new concept with great attention due to the intriguing photophysical theories underpinning and tremendous application potential. Chromophore with CTE effect shows nonconjugated structures and its unconventional luminescence is ascribed to inter- or intramolecular through-space conjugation. In this chapter, according to the nature of the electrons, the clusteroluminogens are divided into four categories, pure n -electron system, pure π -electron system, hybrid ( n , π )-electron system, and other systems such as metal clusters. These four systems are individually introduced to representative structures and the underlying mechanisms. It is foreseeable that CTE will provide a broad platform for the exploration of fundamental photophysical theories and the construction of efficient luminescent materials.
