Intense radiation in the Terahertz frequency gap (0.1-20 THz) has been challenging in the past. Single-cycle Terahertz transients at high fields are a novel tool to investigate fundamental properties of condensed matter and ultimately to initiate coherently collective motions. However, high-power single-cycle pulses with fields > 100 MV/m in the Terahertz gap have remained a challenge. Here we demonstrate intense single-cycle pulses in the THz gap with unprecedented high fields (up to 600 MV/m and 2 Tesla) and ultra-broadband spectra, covering more than 5 octaves from 0.1-5.5 THz.
