Application of Novel Polysilicone Fullerene Coating to Determination of Phthalate Esters in Water Samples by Solid-phase Microextraction and Gas Chromatography
Solid phase microextraction (SPME) coated with a 33 μm polysilicone fullerene fiber, coupled to gas chromatography flame ionization detection (FID) was used to determine five phthalate esters in water sample with internal standard method. Dibutyl phthalate was selected as the internal standard substance. The variables affecting the SPME absorption process were optimized and the developed method was applied to analyze plastic sample. The linear ranges were between 0.001 mg/L and 10 mg/L for most compounds, and the limits of detection of the method were between 0.25 μg/L and 0.047 μg/L. Compared to the non polar commercial PDMS coating, fibers coated with polysilicone fullerence have some advantages, such as higher velocities of mass transfer and extraction efficiency, better selectivity and sensitivity for phthalate esters.
