Purpose This study aimed to introduce the mechanism of digital transformation, which enhances supply chain resilience. Current research has overlooked the factors contributing to the relationship among digital transformation, supply chain risk management, supply chain resilience, and disruption impact. Therefore, we investigated the mediating roles of four core processes in supply chain risk management using the theoretical basis of dynamic capabilities theory. Design/methodology/approach Surveys were conducted with 284 Chinese manufacturing enterprises in the supply chain sector. Partial least squares structural equation modeling examined the relationships between digital transformation, supply chain risk management, disruption impact, and supply chain resilience. Findings Among the four dimensions of supply chain risk management, risk assessment, risk mitigation, and risk control mediate between digital transformation and supply chain resilience. In contrast, risk mitigation does not serve as a mediator. The moderating role of disruption impact concerning supply chain resilience was not confirmed. Originality/value This study provides empirical support for how manufacturing enterprises can leverage digital transformation to help identify the key supply chain risk management processes that firms can implement to enhance their supply chain resilience.
