Pleural Mesothelioma: Ninth Edition of the TNM Staging Classification

The ninth edition TNM classification for pleural mesothelioma is a major step forward: For the first time, the T category is based on size criteria using pleural thickness in combination with fissural thickness. These size criteria were combined with invasion information for a complete clinical T category evaluation. Analysis of the N and M categories corroborated the eighth edition with no changes proposed.
