Synthesis of 4-Borono-L-phenylalanine

An enantiospecific synthesis of 4-borono-L-phenylalanine (L-BPA) is presented. Using a new boronic acid protecting group, palladium-catalysed coupling of a protected iodo-phenylboronic derivative with a L-serine-derived partner forms the basis of this approach.
