摘要
Abstract The paper studied the synthesis of cordierite powders and the preparation of ultra-low thermal expansion ceramic with high elastic modulus. The powder was synthesized by solid state reaction using MgO, Al 2 O 3 and SiO 2 as raw materials. The effect of temperature on powder purity, phase and properties of ceramic was mainly studied. The results show that the cordierite powder with higher purity and reactivity was synthesized at 1390°C, containing two kinds of phase (α-cordierite and β-cordierite). The compact cordierite ceramic could be obtained at 1420°C with homogeneous and compact organizations, besides, this sample had a wide operating temperature area with low thermal expansion, and the higher elastic modulus.
