Bone Morphogenetic Protein 6 Gene and Its Role in Mammalian Reproduction

Bone morphogenetic protein-6(BMP-6)is one member of the family of bone morphogenetic proteins,with its first observed role as osteoinductive factor that induces endochondral bone formation,bone fracture healing and ectopic bone formation.However,with more studies comes out,BMP-6 was revealed to have extensive functions in animals.The paper summarized some studies related to BMP-6 in the mammalian reproduction,and primarily elucidated the expression of BMP-6 in various tissues and cells relatet to mammals reproduction,the signal path and the action mechanism,and the effects of BMP-6 regulating mammals reproduction.At the same time,we brought for ward some problems still expected to be investigated.
