Study on the significance of the asthmatic children's endothelin-1 and nitric oxide level in the serum

ObjectiveTo study the role of plasma endothelin-1(ET-1) and nitric oxide(NO) in the pathogenesis of the asth matic children.MethodsThe ET-1 and NO were measured by using specific radioimmunoassay and colorimetry in 40 children with asthma and 30 heal th controls.ResultsThe plasma levels of ET-1 and NO in asthma tic acute attack stage was significant higher than those in control group(P0.01),while in relieving stage the ET-1 and NO levels decreased bu t still higher than those in control group(P0.05).Conc lusionET-1 and NO play important roles in pathologenesis of bronchial asthma.The plasma levels of ET-1 and NO are the indicators to judge the status of bronchial asthma.
