Abstract This paper investigates the synergistic effects of hybrid Fibonacci–Thue-Morse quasiperiodic one-dimensional photonic crystals on optical filtering and logical operations. By combining these quasiperiodic sequences, we demonstrate the enhanced performance of 1D PCs constructed using titanium oxide and porous silicon oxide. The hybrid structures effectively overcome the limitations of individual Fibonacci and Thue-Morse sequences, achieving narrowband and flat-top transmission spectra in the visible region. Simple mirror-symmetric configurations exhibit sharp transmission peak at the central wavelength, while hybrid structures enable a tunable narrowband filtering across this wavelength, functioning as bandpass filters. Additionally, we establish an analogy between the transmission characteristics of these structures and logical OR operations, realizing an optical OR gate within the photonic crystal framework. The study further explores ternary structures by introducing an additional layer derived from various materials, expanding the design versatility. These findings demonstrate the potential of hybrid quasiperiodic photonic crystals in multifunctional optical devices, providing insights into the development of advanced filters and computational photonic applications.
