RECENT CYPRAEIDAE: A PRELIMINARY LIST OF TAXA NOT RECOGNIZED AS VALID IN THE PROJECT "INTRASPECIFIC VARIATION IN LIVING COWRIES" Version 1(09.2011)

The taxonomic identity of cowry taxa described in the past as species or subspecies is studied in the project Intraspecific variation in living cowries. It was mostly a selective test using representative batches of shells. As a result, 380 taxa are treated as not valid for different reasons. These taxa are listed below. Those taxa, which were originally described as varieties (forms) are not mentioned in this list.
