Analysis of Volatile Components of Pogostemon Cablin from Indonesia and China

Objective To analyze the volatile components of Pogostemon cablin from Indonesia and China,and then to investigate the differences of them.Methods The patchouli oil was extracted by the wet distillation.The patchouli oil was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by GC-MS.Results The content of essential oil in Pogostemon cablin from China was higher than that from Indonesia.In both herbs,33 same compounds were found and the highest content was Patchouli alcohol.Conclusion The volatile components of 2 herbs are similar,but the major ingredient content is different between the 2 kinds of Pogostemon cablin.
