The article on the clinical investigation “Comparison of the I-gel Laryngeal Mask Airway with the LMA-Supreme for Airway Management in Patients Undergoing Elective Lumbar Vertebral Surgery,” on pages 37 to 41 of the January 2015 issue of the Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology contained various incorrect uses of the term “LMA.” The publisher acknowledges that LMA and LMA Supreme are proprietary terms, because they are registered trade marks of The Laryngeal Mask Company Limited, an affiliate of Teleflex Inc. They therefore should not have been used in reference to the I-gel product or to laryngeal masks generally. The article also incorrectly used “SLMA” as an abbreviation for the LMA Supreme device. The publisher apologizes for these errors.
