Clinical Study on Large Hepatocellular Carcinoma Treated with Jianpi Huatan Therapy Combined with Radiofrequency Ablation( RFA ) after Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization( TACE)

Objective To evaluate the efficacy on large hepatocellular carcinoma( HCC) treated with Chinese medicines combined with radiofrequency ablation( RFA) after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization( TACE). Methods Seventy- two cases of large HHC had 95 foci( 5. 1 ~ 14. 5 cm in diameter). RFA was applied after TACE. CT assessment was given in 24 h. RFA for one or twice were supplemented if leakages were discovered. TACE was consolidated after the last RFA in one month. Results Thirty- six cases were completed ablated after RFA,22 cases basically ablated and 14 cases partially ablated. Seven cases( 9.72%) presented complications,including 2 cases of skin burns,3 cases of pneumothorax and 2 cases of abdominal hemorrhage. The survival rates were 97. 2%( 70 cases),73. 6%( 53 cases),47. 2%( 34 cases) and33. 3%( 24 cases) in 6 months,1,2 and 3 years after RFA after TACE separately. Conclusion Chinese medicines combined with RFA after TACE is the effective therapeutic program for the treatment of large HCC.
