A wire-tube non-thermal plasma reactor was designed and its working characteristics were analyzed and studied by the theory and experiment.The experiment for reducing diesel engine PM emission was carried out on the reactor.The result shows that the wire-tube non-thermal plasma reactor has two different discharge types of dielectric barrier corona discharge and dielectric barrier filamentary discharge,which have different discharge appearance and working characteristics.Both discharge types can reduce PM emission of diesel engine,but dielectric barrier filamentary discharge is more effective and has higher energy utilization efficiency.When dielectric barrier corona discharge works,there exist two different processes simultaneously,the chemical process of PM oxidized decomposition and the physical process of PM charged trapping.
