摘要
Dependency on costly conventional alkali activator with high carbon foot print limits the wide-scale adaptation of geopolymer composites. In this regard, this paper presents an overview of a state-of-the-art review of different waste-derived alkali activators used in the preparation of geopolymer composites and their processing parameters. Further, an overview on the applications of these alternative activators for the preparation of geopolymer composite are highlighted with critical discussions on strength development under different curing conditions and ages. This extensive review suggested that the waste-derived alkali activators have the potential to substitute the costly commercial activators and aid the wide implementation of geopolymer binders.
