Improving the Chinese Character Application Test System——A thought from Japanese Kanji Capability Test

Using and writing Chinese characters appropriately are fundamental capability of Chinese. However, scientific progress offers great convenience for people and decreases the handwriting chances. What people are losing is not only the capability of handwriting, but also the knowledge about Chinese character structure and normal application. The consummated Japanese kanji application test provides the experiences of improving the Chinese character application test system. It could be improved from enlarging the examinees, regularizing the test, setting the test levels and increasing handwriting testing proportion.
