The recent advance of fiber reinforced aluminum laminates from ARALL to a generation of composite laminates of new type is discussed synthetically. The making technology of a kind of carbon reinforced aluminum laminates is investigated by experiments, and the properties of this new composite laminates are given in detail. Test results reveal that that new type carbon fiber reinforced aluminum laminates have the same advantages as ARALL,and nearly all of the properties of this new composite material are better than the aluminum that is used as the matrix of its laminates. It can be expected that this new type of carbon fiber reinforced aluminum laminates could be used in the various kinds of engineering constructions and will be the substitution of the aluminum of high strength.
