摘要
In recent times, abrupt changes in environmental conditions pose severe challenge to plant fitness and productivity. However, plants have the ability to show rapid responses towards these continuously changing environmental conditions. Environmental signals cause a variety of responses in different cells and tissues via specific intrinsic signal transduction machineries. Regulation and functional preferences of phytohormone change with the nutrient status of plants that extensively affect its growth and development. Brassinosteroid (BR) and glucose (Glc) are two very important compounds that play vital roles in overall plant growth and development. BRs and Glc have been reported to be involved in controlling a vast number of responses in plants in complex ways. There has been a lot of effort in the past to dissect out the mechanisms of BR and Glc signaling. In this chapter, we have summarized Glc and BR signaling mechanisms and their roles in governing plant growth and development under various environmental conditions. Further, we have tried to summarize the integration/crosstalk of these signaling pathways in regulating plant development.
