Type 2 innate lymphoid cells and asthma

The type 2 helper T lymphocytes (Th2) are always considered to be the one that secret the type 2 cytokines and maintain the chronic inflammation of the airways of asthmatic patients.It still cannot explain many asthma-related phenomena.In recent years,it was found that on response to cytokines such as interleukin-25 and interleukin-33,the type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s),independent of the acquired immunity system,can produce type 2 cytokines.These cells can also initiate and maintain the type 2 inflammation in human anti-parasite immunity and allergy-related diseass.ILC2s can respond to a variety of environmental stimuli.This review focuses on how ILC2s are found,their histological distribution,immunological properties,and their roles in asthma.
