Study on predictive values of MMP-8 and IL-6 detections in cervical secretions for premature delivery

Objective:To study the characteristics of changes of matrix metalloproteinase-8(MMP-8) and interleukin-6(IL-6) levels in cervical secretions of patients with premature delivery,and explore the predictive values of MMP-8 and IL-6 detections for premature delivery.Methods:A total of 117 patients with threatened premature labor were selected as threatened premature labor group,and 64 normal pregnant women receiving prenatal examination during the same period were selected as control group;the levels of MMP-8 and IL-6 in the two groups were compared,the differences of MMP-8 and IL-6 levels between the patients preventing miscarriage successfully and the miscarriage patients were studied,the methodological evaluation and correlation of MMP-8 and IL-6 for diagnosis of premature delivery were analyzed.Results:The levels of MMP-8 and IL-6 in threatened premature labor group were statistically significantly higher than those in control group(P0.05);the levels of MMP-8 and IL-6 in miscarriage group were statistically significantly higher than those in non-miscarriage group(P0.05);there was a positive correlation between MMP-8 level and IL-6 level in cervical secretions of threatened premature labor group(γ=0.639,P0.05);when the threshold value of MMP-8 for diagnosis of premature delivery was 20 ng/ml,the sensitivity and specificity were 85.5% and 85.9%,respectively;when the threshold value of IL-6 for diagnosis of premature delivery was 14 ng/ml,the sensitivity and specificity were 82.1% and 81.3%,respectively.Conclusion:Both IL-6 and MMP-8 are correlated with premature delivery closely,which have a certain predictive values for diagnosing premature delivery.
