Expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in decidua and villi of unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion

Objective To evaluate the expression of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in decidua and villii of first trimester pregnant women with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion(URSA).Methods The levels of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 of 25 patients in decidua and villii from 25 patients with URSA were determined by immunohistochemical method.Results The level of MMP-2 in decidua(86.53±20.17)was lower than that in villi(97.86±30.25)(P0.05);The rate of MMP-2/TIMP-2 in decidua(0.89±0.27)was lower than that in villi(1.01±0.39)(P0.05).Conclusion The MMP-2 and the ratio of MMP-2/TIMP-2 in decidua are lower than that in villi of matermal fetal interface,which is important in the pathology of URSA.
