Correction of Pediatric Aphakia

Within the last half century, improvements in the design of spectacles, contact lenses, intraocular lenses, and surgical decision-making and techniques have led to significant advancements in the correction of pediatric aphakia. This article discusses a brief history of pediatric aphakic correction, the present modalities used, and more advanced techniques, such as intraocular lens fixation in the absence of capsular support.
