Under extreme conditions, the degradation of materials mainly caused the failure of spacecraft missions, but the lubrication failure plays an important role in this degradation.Polyimide, with its unique high and low temperature resistance, excellent mechanical as well as special self-lubricating properties, is widely used in high-tech fields such as aerospace.Therefore, it is of great significance to develop polyimide self-lubricating composites applied in different conditions.Based on research of both domestic and overseas, this feature article introduces the research progress in polyimide self-lubricating materials of Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.Furthermore, the methods for designing polyimide-lubricating materials in the future and its development tendency are put forward.
