Acute radiodermatitis during radiation therapy

Acute radiation skin toxicity is the most common of all radiation toxicities during radiotherapy. More than 90% of the patients receiving radiotherapy have some form of radiodermatitis. There are many risk factors for radiodermatitis. The most important symptom is pain. Modern treatment technics, such as intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) are giving for decreased severity and incidence of radiodermatitis. In treatment of acute skin radiation toxicity are necessary pain management and adequate skin care.
