Peak Flow Control for a Full Spectrum of Design Storms

Roofs, streets, parking lots, sidewalks, and other impervious surfaces that are part of the urban fabric increase the amount of stormwater surface runoff when compared to predevelopment conditions. One of the primary goals of providing stormwater detention for years has been to address these increases in runoff by controlling peak stormwater runoff flow rates in downstream reaches. Although the knowledge of how to accomplish that goal for individual sites is understood, the effects of multiple detention basins in urban areas were not.
