Abstract The luminescence of CaMgP2O7:x%Ce3+ (x = 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0) was synthesized and studied for their photoluminescence analysis. The phosphors were synthesized using combustion, wet chemical, and solid state reaction method and X-ray diffraction and photoluminescence analysis was performed for all samples. Analysis confirmed the solid state reaction method is the most suitable method for preparing CaMgP2O7:Ce3+ inorganic phosphors. The excitation and emission spectra were due to d-f transitions of Ce3+ rare-earth ions. Further, the Strokes, Redshift, and zero phonon energy were estimated from the excitation and emission spectra. Also, the concentration quenching was observed for 1.5% doped CaMgP2O7:Ce3+ inorganic phosphor which was due to the dipole-dipole interactions. The chromaticity coordinates obtained from Commission International de I’Eclairage diagram and corelated coordinate temperature are also discussed.
