Efficacy and Safety of Chinese Herbal Medicine for Knee Osteoarthritis: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

The efficacy of CHM in the treatment of KOA is superior to those of placebo and Western medicine. At the same time, the combination of CHM + Western medicine is superior to Western medicine alone in the treatment of KOA. However, due to the existence of certain biases in the included studies, and the need for further study on the effective components of Chinese medicine, a positive conclusion on the efficacy of traditional CHM in the treatment of KOA cannot be drawn and needs to be confirmed by high-quality clinical RCTs.
