Effect of Water Stress on Pigment Content and PAL Activity of Purple Leaf Plum

Effects of water stress on pigment content and PAL activity of purple leaf plum,a color-leafed plant,were studied.The results showed that with the strengthening of water stress,the content of ch a,ch b and ch a+b,carotenoids decreased,ch a/b increased,ch a+b/carotenoids decreased,and flower pigment/ch a+b increased;PAL activity and the content of flower pigment increased.The injury of water stress to chb was bigger than to ch a,and the main cause to the coloring of the leave was the increase of ch a+b/flower pigment.
