Mango is soft in texture. When it is picked or ripened, it may be eroded by pests or damaged when it falls on the ground. A mango surface defect detection device based on HALCON was designed to improve the detection accuracy and efficiency. A mango image acquisition system was built by using CCD array camera, LED light source and switching power supply to obtain high-definition image of mango. HALCON software is used to preprocess the original image, threshold segmentation, morphological denoising and so on. Finally, the target features are extracted and the defect area is calculated. The experimental results show that this method is fast and accurate for the extraction of mango surface defects, which provides a method for the extraction of mango surface defects.
