A height-flexible artificial bottom is adopted to simulate the shallow-water effect of lakes in the wind-induced wave flume. The characteristics of wind-induced waves in shallow water with different water depths are studied and the frequency spectrum, wave height, wave length and swell identity are investigated in the serial experiments. The results of the wave length, wave height and swell obtained in the experiments are compared with the empirical equation, indicating that the wind-induced wave produced in the experiments is apparently affected by the shallow-water. Moreover there is a critical wind velocity, to which the variation characteristics of the wave frequency spectrum and the wave height are related.
