Research Progress in Antitumor Effect of Porphyrins and Its Metal Complex Based on G-quadruplex

As a kind of biological clock,telomere can determine multiplication capacity and lifetime of a cell.Telomere DNA will be shortened every time the cell divides until a certain degree when the cells start to die.At the same time,telomerase is able to extend telomere DNA so that cells keep dividing.Fesearches indicate that G-quadruplex is a specific structure of telomere DNA,and it can prevent telomerase from combining with telomere and extending telomere.So,it can play the same role as telomere inhibitor by promoting the formation of G-quadruplex or stabilizing the structure of G-quadruplex,thus accelerating the apoptosis of tumor cell.
