Abstract Nitrogen oxides, including NO and NO 2 , are notorious air pollutants. The selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH 3 (NH 3 −SCR) is the most widely studied and used technology for NO x removal. The spatially confined architectures in porous materials are promising designs for NH 3 −SCR catalysts. Porous metal oxides, metal‐based zeolite, and the metal organic frameworks catalysts, featuring active sites disperse in the pores, cavities, and frameworks, are the most widely studied NH 3 −SCR catalysts. In this review, we review the application of these three typical catalysts for NH 3 −SCR, emphasizing the spatial confined structure provided by the porous materials.
