OBJECTIVE To study the chemical constituents of Ophiopogon japonicus Ker-Gawl.METHODS Many chromatography methods were used in separation and purification,and all compounds were identified by means of spectroscopic analysis.RESULTS Three homoisoflavonoidal compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate extracts of the tuberous roots of O.japonicus.and identificated as 5,7-dihydroxy-6,8-dimethyl-3-(3′,4′-dihydroxybenzyl) chroman-4-one(Ⅰ),5,7-Dihydroxy-3-(4′-hydroxybenzyl)chromone(Ⅱ) and 5,7-Dihydroxy-6,8-di methyl-3-(4′-dihydroxy-2′,6′-dimethoxybenzyl)chroman-4-one(Ⅲ).CONCLUSION Compound I was a new homoisoflavonoid and compound II was isolated from O.japonicus for the first time.
