The acetalization and ketalization of various aldehydes and ketones with glycerol by using(KHSO_4) as catalyst were studied.Effect of reaction time,mole ratio of reactants and amount of catalyst on yield of acetals(ketals) were investigated.Results showed that KHSO_4 was an efficient catalyst for the acetalization and ketalization with high conversion and selectivity in mild conditions.The optimum reaction condition:mole ratio of aldehydes and ketones to glycerol was(1∶1.2),catalyst amount was 2 g/1mol aldehydes or ketones,reaction time was 2 h.Under the condition,the conversion was over 90% and selectivity was over 95%.
