摘要
Ultrasound irradiation (US), also referred to as sonication, utilizes high frequency sound waves to cause physical and chemical alterations in materials. Ultrasound has been found in applications across multiple fields, including chemistry, material science, medicine, and food processing. The use of the ultrasound approach can conceivably lead to greener intensified processing with significant economic savings. In chemistry or chemical industries, sonication is a lucrative approach to quicken chemical reactions, enhance reaction yields, and reduce reaction times. This technique is also useful for synthesizing various materials, such as nanoparticles, polymers, and composites. In material science, US processes and modifies materials, including surface cleaning, surface modification, and particle dispersion. Advanced materials with improved properties and performance have emerged through this technique. In medicine, sonication is widely used for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic applications, such as targeted drug delivery and tissue ablation. In the food industry, US is helpful in preserving and processing food, including compound extraction, food quality preservation, and food texture enhancement. Overall, it has been established that cavitation has become a crucial tool across different fields with considerable potential for greener and sustainable processing. Its potential for further development and optimization makes it a promising tool for the future.
