摘要
Crimes nowadays are expanding at an exponential rate which is an area of concern. Criminals repeatedly use futuristic mediums to commit crimes, therefore legal laws are persistently being updated and modified to limit the crime rate. The existing law-making sector are promoting the scope of applying forensic science in order to ameliorate the process of the investigation and help to assist court proceedings crucially. Thus forensic science is an important sector for the legislative agencies for criminal investigations for establishing a connection among crimes and the criminals. In criminal investigations, to solve crimes and prosecute the criminal for justice, the forensic investigators employ various scientific practices from the biological, chemical, and physical sectors. They accumulate and analyze concrete evidences including DNA, fingerprints, fibers and hairs. This chapter represents a comprehensive discussion on the use of UV-Vis spectroscopy methods for the determination of forensic exhibits. In the past decade, analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry have been applied for the identification and discrimination of forensic samples which provides informative inspection of the samples. A number of research articles involving to the use of spectroscopic techniques in forensic science discipline have been published. This chapter specifically displays the application of UV-Vis spectroscopy in various disciplines of forensic science. It is suggested here that this method can be efficiently utilized in forensic science investigation to generate statistically confident results.
