Benign Hyperplastic Nodule in the Peripheral Zone of the Prostate Mimicking Prostate Cancer on 18F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT

Benign prostatic hyperplasia mainly arises within the para-urethral transition zone and is rarely seen in the peripheral zone. We describe MRI and 18 F-PSMA-1007 PET/CT findings in a patient with a large benign hyperplastic nodule in the peripheral zone. The benign prostatic hyperplastic nodule appeared as a well-defined mass with heterogeneous signal intensity at T2-weighted images and increased 18 F-PSMA-1007 with SUV max of 7.3. This case indicates that a large benign prostatic hyperplastic nodule can arise from the peripheral zone and shows increased 18 F-PSMA-1007 uptake mimicking prostate cancer.
