Development of environment friently phenol-formaldehyde resin adhesive and its bonding properties

A phenol-formaldehyde adhesive with low toxicity was sy nt hesized using multi-step process. Formaldehyde and phenol were added into the r eactor by several steps and the final formaldehyde/phenol molar ratio was 1.8～1 .9∶1. The obtained adhesive not only meets the bonding property requirements b ut also has low content of free formaldehyde and formaldehyde emitted from venee r,which is very low (less than 0.05mg·L -1). The adhesive can also be us ed for making bamboo veneer.The adhesive is a more ideal,low toxic and environme nt friently phenol-formaldehyde resin adhesive.
