Objective To investigate the association between suicide behavior and genetic polymorphisms of 15 short tandem repeats(STRs) loci in 13 chromosomes.MethodsPCR compound amplification was performed with the aid of AmpFlSTR IdentifilerTM system in DNA samples collected from 76 suicides and 147 healthy controls. Then ABI3100 type gene analysis system was used to detect the genotypes of the 15 STRs so as to calculate and compare the differences of allelic frequency.ResultsThe genotypic distributions of all the 15 STRs loci in suicides and healthy controls conformed to Haryd-Weinberg equilibrium(P0.05).Allelic frequency of allele 13 of CSF1PO(10.53% vs 5.10%),allele 8 of D13S317(38.82% vs 27.89%),allele 18 of FGA(2.63% vs 0.34%),allele 19 of FGA(7.89% vs 3.06%),allele 23 of FGA(17.11% vs 27.89%),allele 16 of vWA(9.31% vs 18.37%),allele 22 of D2S1338(0.66% vs 5.10%),allele 9 of D16S539(25.66% vs 35.71%)were significantly different between suicides and healthy controls(P0.05).There was extremely significant difference in allelic frequency of allele 25 of D2S1338(9.33% vs 18.37%) between the two groups(P0.01).There were no significant differences in allelic frenquency of other STRs(P0.05).ConclusionAllele 13 of CSF1PO,allele 8 of 13S317,allele 18 of FGA,allele 19 of FGA,allele 23 of FGA,allele 22 of D2S1338,allele 25 of D2S1338,allele 16 of vWA,allele 9 of D16S539 may be associated with the suicide behavior. It is suggested that genes related with suicide behavior may reside in chromosome 2,4,5,12,13,16.
