Mechanoluminescence: Color Manipulation of Mechanoluminescence from Stress‐Activated Composite Films (Adv. Mater. 43/2013)

The application of mechanically driven light generation (mechanoluminescence) into imaging or lighting devices is described by Soon Moon Jeong and co-workers on page 6194. It is shown that an incandescent lamp can be substituted with mechanoluminscent composite films. The mechanoluminescence is environmentally friendly because light can be generated by way of a naturally vibrating phenomenon (e.g., wind).
