Ethyl (R)-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoate is a key intermediate for the syntheses of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor(ACEI), which are widely used in clinic as the therapy of hypertesion and congestive heart failure. The synthetic methods of ethyl (R)-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoate were reviewed with 25 references.
