摘要
Electrospinning is an electro-hydrodynamics-based technique, competent of synthesising nanometers to micrometers sized fibers. This technique engages a high electric field to release the charged plastic or polymer solution into fibers. This technique is ubiquitously considered as promising and unique, due to its comparatively easy experimental set up, presence of wide range of suitable materials, cost effectiveness and high production rate. A discussion on the basic principle of electrospinning, the parameters affecting the fiber characteristics, different types of plastics/polymers used to synthesize the electrospun scaffolds, and a special highlight on the application and impact of electrospinning in biomedical field along with industrial advancement has been presented here.
