The thermal decomposition characteristics of N-oxides of 3,3 '-azo-bis( 6-amino-1,2,4,5-tetrazine)( DAATO3. 5) and the influences of seven kinds of lead / copper compounds on thermal decomposition behavior of DAATO3. 5 were investigated by differential scanning calorimeter( DSC). It was experimentally found that DAATO3. 5 has a fierce thermal decomposition process in the temperature range of 240 ~ 257 ℃ with a sharp exothermic peak at( 250 ± 0. 5) ℃,and the exothermic quantity of DAATO3. 5 is 3 088 J / g. The thermal decomposition peak temperature of DAATO3. 5 is increased and the exothermic quantity of DAATO3. 5 is decreased by mixing DAATO3. 5 with NTO-Cu,CuO,CuBT,NTO-Pb,PbO and PbBT. Specifically,PbSt flattens the DSC curve, widens the thermal decomposition temperature range,and decreases the exothermic quantity of DAATO3. 5 obviously,which was found a marked catalytic effect on DAATO3. 5.
