Objective:To explore the influence of aripiprazole on hyperprolactinemia caused by antipsychotics in elderly patients with schizophrenia.Method:Sixty-two elderly schizophrenia patients with hyperprolactimia caused by antipsychotics were randomly divided into the study group (33 cases) and the control group (30 cases). On the basis of using original antipsychotic drugs, study group was received 5 mg/d aripiprazole as a combination treatment for 12 weeks. The level of serum prolactin (PRL) was detected, the psychotic symptoms and adverse reactions were assessed by brief psychiatric rating scale (BPRS) and treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS) before into the group and 4,8,12 weekend into the group, respectively. Results:At 4,8,12 weekend after into the group, the levels of PRL in study group were significantly decreased than before into the group and control group (all P0.05).While,which was no significant difference in control group between before and after into the group (all P0.05).The scores of BPRS and TESS between the two groups were no significant differences at each time point. Conclusion:Aripiprazole can effectively reduce the level of serum PRL whose increase caused by antipsychotic drugs in elderly schizophrenia patients and does not increase adverse drug reaction.
