摘要
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been utilized as organic–inorganic hybrid materials to separate and adsorb various chemical substances. Compared to conventional inorganic materials, MOFs possess better operational performances because of their exceptional features caused by metal ion clusters and organic ligands. Since the Industrial Revolution, the increase of toxic pollutants in the environment has become a critical issue worldwide and finding a sustainable solution with fewer side effects is highly important. Accordingly, this chapter comprehensively and comparatively presents on the application of MOFs in wastewater treatment and gas separation by highlighting both beneficial and detrimental impacts of MOFs in water and gas purification.
