Objective To explore the prognosis of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(ITP) in serum levels of thrombopoietin(TPO) and number of megakaryocyte. Methods Serum levels of TPO were measured with sandwich-enzyme linked immunosorbent assay kit.According to the number of megakaryocyte, the patients were divided into group A(the number of megakaryocyte was less than or equal to 35/6 cm~2) and group B(the number of megakaryocyte is higher than 35/6 cm~2) and reviewed their curative effects. Results The mean serum level of TPO in group A was(368.33±39.47) ng/L and that in group B was(141.48±11.28) ng/L.The serum levels of TPO in group A were visibly higher than those in group B.There was statistical difference between group A and group B(t=7.44 P0.01).The therapeutic effective power in group A was 23.8% and remarkably decreased than 84.2% in group B(χ~2=6.54 P0.05).The mean serum TPO levels in 5 responders in group A [(109.60±15.59) ng/L] was significantly lower than that in 16 nonresponder in group A[(449.18±29.59) ng/L] in treatment(t=-6.23 P0.01).Conclusions There is markedly difference in serum level of TPO in children with ITP.The high level of TPO and lower number of megakaryocyte prognosticated infaust prognosis in ITP.
